James grew up in Berkeley, California, graduated from UCSC with a degree in Biology. He studied marine mammals, which involved feeding dolphins and tagging elephant seals. His thesis, “Musculoskeletal Degeneration in Zero Gravity,” was written with the goal of becoming an astronaut.  Cooler heads prevailed.  James began his advertising career in NYC, but came home to the San Francisco Bay Area to raise a family, build a homestead and produce some pretty fancy content.

His Biology degree remains unused.
